I figure, the best place to start this blog is by telling you a bit about who I am, what I do, and why.
I always said I was going to change the world. I'm a dreamer & an idealist, and I believe 100% in the power of each one of us to create a life we are truly happy in; a totally groovy life.
I am a Certified Life Coach and Personal Empowerment Educator, who also does Intuitive Readings. I'm also a Certified Level 2 Reiki Practitioner, who combines music with my Reiki sessions for something I call Groovy Reiki. I'm also into crystals, essential oils, environmental protection, and the whole love & peace vibe. And the beach. Love that water. I play acoustic guitar some, and the electric bass some, and love to sing too. Music is key to so much joy, happiness and healing in my life, and for my clients too.
I'm pretty sure that reading this far, (and if you've seen the picture of me on my website), could make it pretty easy to simply call me some sort of hippie "woo-woo" chick and leave it at that. And by societal definitions you wouldn't be far off the mark.
But I am so much more than a woman raised in the seventies, with passions for groovy music and the holistic, metaphysical, positive, and peaceful worlds.
I worked tremendously hard at creating this groovy life I now live. I've studied personal development "gurus" for more than 25 years, and applied what I learned to my own life. There were days when I felt like just giving up, but I always found a way to keep going. Sometimes, this was because of my own strong will, but sometimes, the only way I kept on was because a friend stepped in and helped me back on my feet.
There was a time when the road to a healthy, happy life seemed as if it would go on forever; and that I would never arrive where I am now. Yet here I am, and I am so incredibly proud of all I have accomplished and created in This Groovy Life. I wrote about these experiences for one of the Sharing books, which are anthologies of empowering stories published by One Thousand Trees. My story is in Volume 3. (the one with the Bleeding Heart flowers on the cover.)
I know how it feels to be absolutely miserable in life. I know how hard changing that life can be. And I know exactly how amazing the rewards are for all the work, pain, and tears.
I know how incredible This Groovy Life can become if you are willing to take an active part in creating what you want.
My goals now involve helping others create a life they love too. I want to be really clear here; this isn't just for those dealing with the really hard stuff life can throw at us. This Groovy Life is for anyone who is looking at life and thinking; "Is this it?", Is this what the rest of my life is going to be? What happened to my dreams? I need change!". This Groovy Life is even for you if you are happy with where you are, but feel like you should be wanting more, because society says you should. (Here's a little tip for that situation; your life is not about them. Your life is about you. If you're struggling with a case of the "shoulds" or maybe a bit of guilt, then there is an unaddressed situation inside you that needs handling.)
If you want some help to truly live and love This Groovy Life, then please stick around, and check out the rest of my site. I plan to post here at least once a week, beginning with a series all about the basics of change. These posts will be uploaded on Thursdays starting August 2nd, and will cover why we struggle with creating the changes we want, and what to do about it.
Thanks for reading!
Keep on groovin'!
